reAgroCool project promotes the design and use of an innovative cooling system using shallow geothermal heat pumps for the maintenance of food and agri-food products. The reAgroCool project contains elements of innovation both at organizational and technological levels.At organizational level, efforts will be made for the first time to manage the storage of agricultural products by different operators taking into account the distances and quantities that each operator is willing to store in order to reduce both the costs and the environmental impact of individual storage and transport.

Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship & Innovation At the same time, technologically speaking, although the use of shallow geothermal heat pumps is a fully developed technology with a successful application in buildings, it has not been implemented so far for food preservation. The system includes important additions to reducing energy consumption, environmental protection and rapid depreciation. These elements are the support from solar power systems and the introduction of passive design elements to limit the initial load. The objective of the project is to improve the competitiveness of primary producers by better integrating them into the agri-food chain through innovative systems and adding value to agricultural products, by improving economic efficiency in terms of sustainable development and reducing carbon footprint.
